Administration
Bonnie Silverman
Bonnie Silverman has extensive experience working in management, development, communications, and human resources across both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. As the mother of a daughter with special needs, Bonnie has turned her journey into a lifelong passion: helping parents navigate the services, systems, and supports available for children with disabilities. She has been a longtime volunteer for the Special Olympics and also serves on the board of PARCA while remaining actively involved with Golden Gate Regional Center and AbilityPath. Bonnie is a trusted source of knowledge, compassion, and comfort for families who are feeling uncertain or overwhelmed.
Katie Schwarz
Katie Schwarz brings more than 30 years of experience in Special Education. Her background includes a bachelor's degree in Theater, a multiple subject teaching credential, a Learning Handicapped Specialist credential, and a Master of Science in Educational Psychology. She has served as an instructional assistant, classroom teacher, department chair, and Program Specialist across public high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools. Katie also provides parent support on IEPs, assessments, and related topics, and she is proud to serve as each child's cheerleader and champion for success.
Emily King
Emily King joined Arbor Bay from the southeastern United States with a bachelor's degree in Special Education. She began teaching in 2000 in the Atlanta public school system and has since taught in both public and private settings. At Arbor Bay, Emily has served as a classroom teacher, resource specialist, and admissions coordinator. In her current role, she is the school's resident Orton-Gillingham specialist and supports reading instruction, staff training, parent communication, student assessments, and curriculum alignment.
Teachers
Jenny Molina
Jenny Molina began at Arbor Bay as an after-school staff member before becoming an assistant teacher. Over time, she completed her bachelor's degree in Child Development and joined a teaching credential program. Now an intern teacher, Jenny receives support from Arbor Bay's leadership as she continues to grow. She is known for differentiating instruction and creating hands-on, engaging lessons that bring joy, warmth, and inclusion to her classroom.
Eva Hanson
Eva Hanson brings a clear, structured approach to teaching in Room C. She holds both a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and an Education Specialist Credential, equipping her to meet a wide range of student needs. Eva is known for strong organization, consistent routines, and highly engaging project-based lessons that help students build the academic and social skills needed for middle school.
Jay Morgan
Jay Morgan is the lead teacher in Room B, serving Arbor Bay's middle school students. He holds a bachelor's degree in Child Development and is currently completing his mild/moderate teaching credential at the College of Notre Dame. Jay is passionate about bird watching, Bay Area sports, and music, and those interests often show up in his lessons. His classroom helps students build maturity, responsibility, and readiness for life after Arbor Bay.
Assistant Teachers and Operations
Erika Doubrava
Erika Doubrava holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Behavior and has experience working with children in a variety of settings. She is known for her positive energy, love of art, and ability to connect with students and families. Erika is also bilingual and helps with communication as a translator when needed.
Pamela Treadwell
Pamela Treadwell has been with Arbor Bay since the school opened. With a background in early childhood education and experience raising two children of her own, Pamela brings warmth, realism, and strong instincts to her role. She has led the school's Girls Club, supports teachers through small-group work and art projects, and contributes a much-loved movie outing to the annual fundraiser auction.
Marco Sampedreo
Marco Sampedreo has a background in computer science and shares that knowledge by teaching coding lessons and supporting technology projects at Arbor Bay. He also designs the annual yearbook and produces the school talent show video. His creativity and technical skills are a major asset to the school community.
Michelle DeJesus
Michelle DeJesus brings a strong background in accounting and business operations to her role at Arbor Bay School. With years of experience in CPA firms and a degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, she manages bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting with care and precision. Michelle is passionate about supporting educational programs and is known for the integrity and dedication she brings to her work.
Enrichment Specialists
Nancy Martin
Nancy Martin holds credentials in Special Education, English, and Dramatic Arts. After a long career teaching high school, she now delights younger students with weekly music, drama, and movement lessons. Nancy also performs in local theater productions and brings that creativity into every Arbor Bay lesson.
Mamatha Shankar
Mamatha Shankar is an alumni parent who teaches weekly yoga sessions across all classrooms. Her lessons focus on stretching, breathing, and mindfulness. Her calming presence helps transform the school into a peaceful and focused space whenever the yoga mats come out.
Mike Becker
Coach Mike Becker leads weekly PE lessons for all classrooms, promoting skill development, sportsmanship, fitness, and teamwork. He has an exceptional talent for engaging all students, even those who are reluctant to participate, and makes movement fun and accessible.
JEDI at Arbor Bay School
Justice, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
At Arbor Bay School, JEDI represents a commitment to building a community where every individual is valued, respected, and supported. The JEDI team includes staff members who identify as disabled and helps ensure that justice, equality, diversity, and inclusion are woven into daily school life.
Marki Silverman
Marki Silverman came to Arbor Bay School as the first JEDI employee. Having grown up in special education environments, she brings resilience, lived experience, and warmth to her work. Marki assists in classrooms, organizes prizes, helps with snacks and art projects, and continues to learn from her mentor, Katie Schwarz.
Ranjani Shankar
Ranjani Shankar is an Arbor Bay alum and college graduate who now works on the JEDI team. She helps supervise students, manages Thursday pizza deliveries, and has proudly earned the nickname "Shredding Queen" for her careful document handling. Ranjani especially enjoys yoga days, when she can see her mom, Mamatha, teaching on campus.
Related Service Providers
Annette Waters
Annette Waters is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist. She provides weekly push-in social pragmatics lessons in classrooms, as well as individual and small group services based on IEPs or parent requests. Her integrated approach helps students strengthen communication skills within a supportive environment.
Lisa Romersa
Lisa Romersa is a certified Occupational Therapist with a background in pediatrics. She leads weekly gross and fine motor lessons in every classroom, offers individual and small group therapy, and teaches keyboarding skills to students. Her "snowball fight" motor activities are a student favorite.
Ronni Chu, AMFT
Ronni Chu began her journey at Arbor Bay School as a therapy intern and quickly became a trusted member of the school community. She provides a safe, nurturing environment where students feel heard and empowered, supporting them in managing anxiety, navigating emotional challenges, and developing tools for positive mental health. Ronni also collaborates closely with teachers, administrators, families, and outside providers to help students receive consistent, well-rounded care.
