Admissions FAQs
Arbor Bay serves students in grades K-8. Some school materials also reference Young 5s through 8th grade based on current program placement and family conversations.
Arbor Bay is designed for students who benefit from small class sizes, individualized instruction, executive functioning support, and a structured, strengths-based environment. Students may have learning differences such as ADHD, auditory processing disorder, dyslexia, language-based learning differences, or mild to moderate autism spectrum diagnoses.
Arbor Bay emphasizes a low student-to-staff ratio, often described as approximately 3:1, so students receive individualized attention, small-group instruction, and consistent support throughout the day.
Arbor Bay offers a multi-disciplinary program that includes speech and language services, occupational therapy, counseling support, social-emotional learning, PBIS, and enrichment. Families also receive support with IEP education, related services, and community referrals.
Arbor Bay School is located at 1017 Cedar Street in San Carlos, right next to Burton Park. The park setting is part of what makes the campus feel restorative and connected to the community.
The process includes an inquiry form, an admissions phone call, review of recent records and assessments, a campus tour, a student screening, and a shadow visit. If the fit is right, families then receive enrollment materials and next steps.
Some students stay at Arbor Bay for three to five years before transitioning successfully to community schools, while others remain longer and continue to benefit from the school's structured and nurturing environment.
