Summer Program
Summer Program 2024
Dates: June 17 - July 12, 2024 (no school or TAP on 6/19 and 7/4)
Time: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., with Therapeutic Afterschool Program (TAP) 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Our Summer Program provides daily review and reinforcement of all academic skills taught by our credentialed Special Education staff. Language Arts and Math are taught in small groups where students receive individualized support, utilizing the same curriculum and academic resources as during the school year. The blended grade classrooms provide a supportive climate focusing on communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity. Our student centered multi-sensory instruction with a whole child approach is designed to create challenge-based learning opportunities.
The Summer Program day starts with a morning meeting to set the schedule and discuss plans. Language Arts small groups focus on reading, spelling, vocabulary, written expression and comprehension. Math small groups (in the lower grades) focus on strengthening number sense, place value, addition/subtraction, and time/money. Multiplication/division concepts, fractions, decimals, and numerical operations are the focus in the upper grades. Speech and Occupational Therapy are available for Individual or small group sessions during the Summer Program (for an additional fee).
Our Therapeutic Afterschool Program (TAP) includes lunch and exciting afternoon camp activities. These include structured activities like cooking, music, arts and crafts, sports/games and Burton Park (for an additional fee).
Priority will be given to current students and those enrolling in Fall 2024.
